Now, award-winning writer Nicholas Faith and photographer Andy Katz capture all the complexity of the region’s character in a perfect marriage of text and images. Their journey takes us to places where the temptation is to linger—Côte d’Or, renowned for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes; Dijon, the historic treasure house of the region; the lovely town of Beaune, heart of the Burgundian wine business; the picturesque villages of Pommard, Volnay, and, above all, Le Montrachet, a tiny mecca for lovers of white wines. Venturing also to outlying regions, they visit Chablis, the Mâcconais, and Beaujolais. The journey ends with a digest of practical advice and information, including a selective guide to the best merchants and producers, and a directory of the Burgundian appellations and Grands Crus. | | | |

Burgundy & its Wines Jan 30, 2007
By John R. Kolb
"JK"
The book has wonderful photography, with a nice history of the region. A few major vineyards are listed, but don't expect it to be a list of key Burgundian hot spots! More the asthetic and artistic history of the area and how wine got started and grew.

Great overview of Burgundy wines Oct 30, 2008
By J. Hartsfield Provided a good introduction and overview to the various areas of Burgundy. It included a history of winemaking in the regions as well as specifics on the characteristics of the wines from each region.

Pretty but not very useful May 25, 2007
By B. Lewis This book is sort of all fluff; the pictures are pretty, but it's not really very informative. I'd skip it and buy a Michelin guide unless you want a picture book for your coffee table.

Great presentation. Jan 26, 2007
By Betsy Pimentel Great portrait of Bordeaux, it's wines and communes, written in a non-pretensious style. Since I haven't been lucky enough to travel to the Bordeaux, Robert Joseph descriptions has help me envision the region, even without the need of the photos (althoug they've also helped).
