Great guide for Santiago and environs Sep 04, 2009
By ededwards Used this book alone for week in Santiago and that general area. This book was far superior to any other I found, for it's Santiago coverage, also Valparaiso and Vina del Mar. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be books available (in English, at least) that focus on Santiago, as there are for Buenos Aires. While we might have wanted a bit more detail about neighborhoods and culture in Santiago, this book served it's purpose very well. Found all the addresses and other information to be pretty accurate.

Little dry May 12, 2010
By J. Wiseman The book is informative, but a little dry... Slightly heavy on accommodations (isn't that what Trip Advisor is for?) Maybe it is geared to an older crowd... I want a bit more to-do and what's-up and where-at stuff... Has all the requisite info on the place, the top sites and picks... But not that in tune with what's going on.

Missing Easter Island Jan 28, 2010

If youre going to Easter Island, dont get this book! Better is Frommers which covers ALL of Chile, including Easter Island.

By Patty L. Gilbert I didn't take this guide when I visited Chile last year. If you like a guide with pictures, don't get this one. It seemed to be well organized, though.

Terrible Maps Feb 17, 2009
By Chester Munchintonsonton The actual writing in the book is fine. However, the maps are terrible. This book is written for older, wealthy, travelers who can't see that well.
Therefore, they make the maps large but are very, very, incomplete. You can't use them at all. I'm not a big fan of Lonely Planet, but their maps are great.
