I have visited this Patagonia region several times but it is huge area and I wanted a current book to save time. Fodor's did a fine job and I am pleased with the guide. I will be there for 3 months this winter. Argentina is still affordable.

This book is primarily focused on outdoor activities (with an overarching undertone of fly fishing). While outdoor activities are what most people visit Patagonia for- and what I was there for-, there wasn't much info on the towns themselves.
Also, this book mostly just provides info on very expensive tour groups and places. In six months, I used this book to find maybe one place.
Advice: if you're doing shoestring travel- don't get this book. If you've got money to spend while down there and plan on spending it- this book would be great.
