4Very Well Made Case for a Great GPS  Jun 10, 2008 By Timothy B. Riley
I have not always been happy with Garmin's cases for their GPS receivers. The case that they made for my 60CSx was awful. This case for the new Colorado unit is a completely different story.

What I like about it is that you have two different mounting options. One is to use the removable carabiner (or "D" ring) to clip onto your belt, belt loop, bag strap, etc. The other is a velcro strap that allows you to hook it on your belt without having to practically take your belt off (as you do with a simple sewn closed loop). Both secure the case well, however I prefer the velcro loop since the carabiner looks a little too mountain-climby for me when I am geocaching in an urban setting.

The case is closed with a standard clip that allows for one-hand operation. The front of the case drops open giving the user access to the GPSr. I was worried at first that when you open the case the unit might fall out. This seems to be a real possibility in my tests, but you have to be at an awkward angle for it to happen (which is very likely when mountaineering, geocaching, rock climbing or even hiking ). Also, you can close the case without the groves being lined up and hence off-set. I have to believe that this would compromise the water-resistance of the case.

Overall I really like this Garmin case. It is a well thought out accessory for the Colorado GPSr. It will certainly protect your investment and look pretty cool while doing it.

5Great case, but be sure you need it.  Aug 15, 2008 By Tobyjoe
This case does just what it should, and does it well. My only caution -- be sure you need and will use it. I ordered it when I ordered the Garmin. The Garmin came with a very stout and secure carabiner clip on. The Garmin itself is sturdy, and I just haven't felt the need for this semi-hard case. If I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't get it. Again, that's not because it's not a very good case; it's only because I don't find myself needing or using it.

1Offers no protection  Sep 08, 2008 By LW
Other than acting as a hard case to prevent bumps to your GPS, this case offers no additional protection to a very expensive investment. I expected the case to seal around the edges, but it does not (the only thing keeping the case closed is that little clip in the picture... I mistakingly thought it also zipped around the edges). So there's nothing preventing dirt, water, etc, from going right into the sides of the case. I use my GPS for fieldwork, and this case definitely wouldn't cut it. I returned mine, and certainly would not recommend this case to anyone.

4Nice item, could be better!  Sep 11, 2008 By Jason Farr
I like this item, it provides good protection from bumping your gps into things. I would really like it to be air tight to keep sand out, it has a gap in the seem that will let in dirt and water. Not good for Iraq.

1Disappointing  Aug 31, 2008 By F. Johnson
I figured after the money spent on the Colorado from Garmin, they would have had a sweet hard case for this. I guess being an Otterbox user, I was expecting more. It was a hard case, but seemed cheaply made.
