5Good locks for the price  Jun 16, 2010
In the picture, the case looks like a hard plastic but the case is indeed a solid metal. Also the picture shows gold locks but you get silver. The shackle is nice and thin and easily locks my toolbox and camera bag. I'm very happy with the lock and will probably buy a few more. The price seems to fluctuate daily on this item by a $1 or $2.

4Good cheap lock.  Jan 31, 2010
I have used many CHEAP locks but this unit is nice. It is only cheap in price.
All right, it is only a small lock. I have never used a GREAT small lock, they all wiggle a bit but I am impressed how well Master Lock worked on removing some of the more common problems with CHEAP locks. The dials work nicely, they do not wobble nor are they loose. It takes some finger pressure to move the dials. I am not saying they are tight, they are about right! The shackle to body connection is nice, the shackle fits nicely into the body. The body fit and finish are nice. Good job Master! LOL!
This lock works great for me! What a GREAT price!

4Basic theft deterrent  Dec 03, 2009
They are what they are: basic combination luggage locks. They aren't TSA approved, so don't lock your checked luggage with them. They are pretty flimsy, so a determined thief won't be stopped. But a determined thief won't be stopped by any lock since they can just cut your bag. They do the job.

Why not a 5-star review? They are small locks and so the hasp is a little small. I've run into lockers that these locks couldn't be used on. Great for locking zippers though. Also, after a few years of banging around on random travels, the dials are so worn that they are almost free spinning. The locks still work, but that makes me cautious because locks are one thing you don't want to break.

4Decent lock for the money  Jun 25, 2009
The lock constuction is pretty flimsy and would work at best as a minor deterrent to a thief (I'm pretty sure you could break it with a hammer or even a large rock). I certainly wouldn't use these to lock up anything even moderately important to me.

For the price though, you can't expect too much, these really were cheap, especially if you get free shipping from Amazon.

I use these to lock my gym locker as it's enough to keep a casual guy walking by from rifling through my locker and in such a public place, I'm not too worried about someone taking a hammer to my lock.

Recommended with reservations.

1NOT TSA Approved - althought the description says it was  Jun 01, 2009
These locks do NOT carry the TSA approval and do not have a way for TSA authorities to open them. I had to go out at the last minute and buy approved locks before my trip!
