Awesome book - Don't go to Paris without it! Sep 18, 2007
By Holly C. I was lucky enough to go to Paris three times, each time carrying Pauline Frommer's Paris book with me everywhere. Twice I went for less than two days and the third time for five days. The layout of the book is great. She has it broken down by the arrondissements (or districts). In each arrondissement there are recommended places to stay and eat. She is not shy about her recommendations and you get the feeling she actually knows the owners and employees at each establishment. Paris is a huge city and with this book I felt that I had some little connections to the people when I went to the recommended establishments. I went on two of the walks recommended in the walkabout section and each walk I stopped at the recommended cafes and they were wonderfully Parisian, not cafes catering to American tourists but thankfully still spoke English. There is a chapter on Paris' 10 iconic sites but also easy itineraries for one, two, three or 4 + days in Paris, which was very helpful to me since my time was limited. The best recommendation for me was to stop by Quai St.Bernard on a summer evening to watch people dance along the Seine doing the tango, something I would have walked right past if it was not for the book. All of the advice given was worth the $16.99, I have some wonderful memories of Paris and can't wait to go back. I would highly recommend purchasing this book if you are going to Paris. I felt I was given advice from a friend to all of the great spots to see while visiting her city.

Helpful Hints Jul 22, 2007
By Tricia L. Toliver I can highly recommend this book for all visitors to Paris. I travel frequently and recently went to Paris with a friend who has never been to France before. We both found the book to be very useful and full of helpful hints. I especially appreciate the way the restaurant section is organized and I also enjoyed the author's personal opinions about her favorite (and/or least favorite) places and activities.

New and fun info! Nov 04, 2009
By H. Francis I bought this book for my June 2009 trip to Paris and am really glad I did! I've been to the City of Light several times (it's my favorite city) but Pauline's book added unusual info that made the trip much more fun. I usually use the Rick Steves' book for my basic info (sorry, Pauline!) but found some really fun nuggets of info in this Frommer book. I'd suggest using both - Rick's for facts and his viewpoint about travel, Pauline's for unusual things to see/do and her sense of fun. I'm hoping to head back to Paris in Spring 2010 and will definitely use Pauline's book again!

Insightful information about Paris Aug 03, 2010

I used this guide during my last trip but had access to many others that were available where I was staying. The difference with this one is the amount of useful and interesting information it provides about each site. It assumes you are a curious and intelligent traveler. The restaurant suggestions were not typical tourist haunts. Some of them had only 6 tables and were quite intimate. I especially enjoyed having the latest information on up and coming neighborhoods like Belleville and Canal St. Martin, a highlight of our trip. Definitely written by an insider with the discerning eye of a traveler.

Great Guidebook! Aug 30, 2009

I only wished I had purchased this book before I purchased 2 previous ones!!
Besides just being good easy reading it has everything I was looking for to get the most out of my 5 days in Paris this Sept.
I love her top ten choices not to miss during my stay along with detailed walks to take in the city...all presented with history facts and lore.
The author also includes everything you'll want to know about museums and other top spots, passes, hours of operation, the metro and lots more, including restaurants, shopping hints and short trips outside Paris.
It's the only book I'm planning to take to Paris!
