I Love London! Nov 04, 2009
By Mia Chamwow I have an obsession with this book! I received it as a gift from one of my relatives in London, and since then I've been itching to get there. The layout and design of the book is impeccable, with loads of great places to visit and stay. The illustrations are beautiful- the paper has a glittery sheen on it, so posh! Its a good piece to have on a coffee table, the cover is so cute its nearly impossible to not open and look at. The photographs found inside are large and stunning (nothing surprising coming from a Taschen) and very well chosen. I love this book, I'll keep it forever!

Feels like a total insider's book to London. Now I know exactly where I want to stay, where I want to eat, and where I want to shop! Beautifully and lavishly produced book.

Amazing book! Mar 03, 2011
By L. Schattman
"Librarian, Design Institute of San Diego"
This is a truly amazing book. It has the high-quality color photographs one expects from Taschen, along with wonderful maps. The graphic design is excellent - each page is both visually appealing and easy to read, and the tabs differentiating the three sections (hotels, restaurants and shops) are the perfect design solution to navigating such a large book.
The book covers hotels, restaurants and shops in London. Each hotel, restaurant and shop listing includes a brief overview of the history and design of the establishment and several pages of glorious photographs. Each section is organized by neighborhood:
Mayfair
St. James's, Soho / Covent Garden / Fitzrovia / Holborn
Marylebone
South Kensington / Chelsea / Belgravia
Notting Hill / Bayswater
Clerkenwell / Shoreditch
If you are planning a trip to London, by all means consult this book, but don't expect to carry it around with you -- it is large and heavy. It is an interior design book as much as a travel guide, a photographic tour of the architecture and interiors of commercial London. It is an excellent source of inspiration and ideas for designers. Highly recommended.
