"off the beaten path Texas" is quite the opposite of what the title implies. The unique places listed in this book are actually right on the path most traveled, using mostly highways and larger Farm-to-Market roads.
If you actually live in Texas and venture out at all, you probably know all the places that are mentioned in this book. If you've never been to Texas and are planning a vacation here, than this book might be a good one to plan out what you might do while in the large towns and cities of the state. If you're looking to get off the highways and see the cattle guard roads, you will have to supplement majorly with other resources.

I bought this book as a gift and it is great. I didn't read it in great depth, but did thumb through it prior to giving. It was very inclusive, attractive, and well written.
