Hands down it's the BEST! Nov 10, 2008
By UltraB Without a doubt there is no map series better than "Roads of.." I've used the Texas and Louisiana editions for the last ten years and they are the maps you turn to when NO other map shows you the road you are looking for. While DeLorme's Gazeteer series is close, it's scale is just distant enough to where they don't show road names for every small little road. Not so with the "Roads of" maps. You get everything! This is the absolute best way to navigate country backroads. Some of my work has involved highway and utility right-of-ways. This is the ONLY atlas that I have been able to use to find every possible access road I need. Want to know the name of that old dirt road off the end of that old gravel road? If it's not in here, it doesn't have a name, lol!

roads of texas Dec 02, 2008
By Karen P. Rowe The Roads of Texas was introduced to me while working in the oilfield in Texas. It is very helpful in finding out of the way places and has never failed me. Very good book if you need to find your way on back roads.

Lots of details and back roads Apr 26, 2009

This is the best Road Atlas for finding the back way to wherever you want to go in Texas. For the cities, you will need a city map, but for out in the country, you will be able to find your way down many scenic roads.

Great Reference Jan 11, 2009

"seek & find"
We have used this mapbook for years--way before gps's were ubiquitous. It was great to have when you leave the main roads to explore out-of-the-way places. It is still very useful, as our gps doesn't have all the backroads and byways mapped still. The only thing that Mapsco could have done to improve this book when taking over publishing of it would have been to have made it spiral bound, which is very useful in handling large format, multipage mapbooks. Still, it's a bargain and very useful if you like to explore the backroads and byways of Texas.

Good atlas, but it isn't current Oct 25, 2011
By Lynda DeGroot I thought this was a good atlas when I bought it last year. However....I discovered that numerous county roads in the county where I live are not up to date. For whatever reason, many of them were renumbered from the 100s to the 200s (i.e., Co. Rd. 145 is now Co. Rd. 268), probably 5 or more years ago. This was confusing to many people (including us) when we first moved to our new location almost 2 years ago. I would think the Texas Dept. of Transportation (TXDOT) would have all the current information. Also, many of the online map services still don't have our correct road number & address so that people who use them can't easily locate us! Not sure where they get their information.
Hopefully the newest updated version of The Roads of Texas (with 15,000 corrections...according to MAPSCO) will have made all of the necessary changes. Hopefully.)
