The Texas Hill County: A Food and Wine Lover's Paradise takes readers on a gustatory tour of this picturesque Central Texas region of rolling hills, spring-fed streams, and good eats. One of the state's most popular travel destinations, the Hill Country is fast becoming a magnet for agricultural tourism. Visitors come here to follow the lavender trails, pick peaches and apples, buy fresh-pressed olive oil, sample the offerings at award-winning wineries, and have a meal in the unique eateries--from chic restaurants with world-class dishes on the menu to back-country roadhouses famous for barbecue and hamburgers. Professional chef and cookbook author Terry Thompson-Anderson has explored every corner of the eighteen-county region, with its quaint communities and specialty farms, and discovered more than one hundred establishments that are sure to please the palate. More than a travel guide, the book is also filled with recipes that she has gathered from proprietors or developed using local food products. Sandy Wilson's stunning full-color photographs capture the diversity of the Hill Country eating experience, with its berry patches and orchards, roadside stands, artisan bakeries, boutique wineries, and vast array of restaurants serving both traditional and haute cuisine. Welcome to the rich bounty of the Hill Country, where you're in for some remarkable food finds. If this is your first visit, we bet it won't be your last!

5Hurray for the Texas Hill Country!  Oct 11, 2008 By Stacey M Smith
Slow Food (eating local) in Texas explored!

Not only is this a celebration of eating local -- it's a Hill Country travel guide to boot! Terry searches central Texas with one thing on her mind: local food with local folks! What a treat to see so many wonderful home-grown businesses featured. From fantastic bakeries & restaurants, to fresh picked apples & peaches, wineries, fresh goat cheese & olive oil and lavender trails --- no culinary aspect of the Hill Country is missed (a number of great recipes are included too). Of course not every farm & restaurnt is visited -there are just too many! But she does a great job to tempt all of us to travel the backroads and explore Texas's rich culinary diversity. Epicuiran delight!

5Beautiful Book Great Information about Central Texas  Jan 25, 2009 By Anna Marie Hathaway "Anna"
This book is a joy to read cover to cover. It contains information on great places to visit such as the hill country vineyards and fabulous places to dine in the Texas Hill Country. Great information if you are planning a visit or if you live in the area and want to know what you are missing out on. It's beautiful sitting on my kitchen island!

5F Aten  Dec 31, 2008 By Forest E. Aten
I grew up in San Antonio. My Dad's relatives all had farms and ranches west of town...in the "Texas Hill Country". Growing up, I was on those farms and ranches working and playing as often as time would allow.
This book is a great tribute to this wonderful area of Texas. The Hill Country feels like home to me and this book really brought that back in a big way. The country side, the people....the way of life. Fantastic.
The book's full of great photography and the reviews are short, sweet and accurate. What a great guide.

5Wonderful guide for the Hill Country  Nov 22, 2009 By Hill Country Devotee
My husband and I love to get away to the Hill Country as often as we can. This wonderful book has given us ideas of new places to explore and new restaurants to try. We recently went with friends to the Hill Top Cafe near Fredericksburg, based on what we had read in the book. What a fantastic evening we had! Can't wait to try out more of the great restaurants (and recipes) found in the book. The photographs are stunning and make you feel you are right there. This book will make a great gift for all our friends!
