5Targets High Points  Jul 18, 2011 By Martha P. Childers "Government Documents Librarian"
While preparing for a 2 week trip to Beijing, this book was particularly useful for planning. It hits all the high points, and it was all we could do in the time we were there. The sites mentioned in the day trips from Beijing listed Cuandixia, which turned out to be one of the high points of our trip. Beijing is a big city, and I liked having a small book that covered the highlights. It provided a manageable amount of information to plan effectively.

5Convenient and Compact Travel Guide  Mar 13, 2012 By Anthony A. Rusinak
I found this travel guide to be extremely convenient and informative for sightseeing around Beijing. For being a small book (it fit in my jean's back pocket), this book was packed with details and facts about the sights in the city. It was well organized so you were able to flip it open to a section about the neighborhood you were walking around in and easily find information about the area around you.

The book also had plenty of "advice" organized as top 10 lists. One example was the "Top 10 Things to Avoid" list that actually listed out a couple of scams that I actually witnessed on my trip.

The only setback with this book was the lack of Chinese translations in it. The language barrier in Beijing can be larger than the Great Wall at times especially when you are trying to communicate with taxi drivers or subway attendants on where you want to go. Usually, you need to plan out your day trip before you leave your hotel and ask your hotel manager to write, in Mandarin, where you want to go on a piece of paper that you would be able to show a taxi driver. A simple Mandarin translation for the place you want to go that you could point at next to titles within the book would have been IMMENSELY helpful and aided in more spontaneous day trips.

All around great travel guide.

5Great guide!  Jul 06, 2011 By S. Rohde
I first checked this book along with others on China and Beijing from my library. Then I bought this one as it has great categories and good information. I took it to Beijing with me and it was very helpful. I found places that tourists don't normally go to and had lots of fun.

4A must have!  Mar 26, 2008 By T. L. Dzubak "mlledzubak"
This book came in quite handy on my recent trip to China. I plan to use it again in July 2008. The maps are updated and information all seems to be correct.

5Top 10 Items  Apr 01, 2007 By Larry J. Galbreath
This is a must have book while visiting Beijing. We would have been lost if we had not purchased this book. A real life saver.
