5Excellent Book  May 11, 2004 By Mr. Thomas Dowe
I wish I had thought of this idea. As you are traveling through Texas, just look up the roadside markers in the area by city or county. You can learn so much, and you don't have to take the time off your trip by stopping when you don't want too. It makes a long trip across Texas, or just sitting in your living room, a good time.

To the review that says it needed a map, yes it could have. It likely would have added a lot of pages and cost to this book. Can you imagine trying to have a detailed map for the backroads some of these markers are on? For the rest of us, the book explains clearly the location in relation to highways and roads for each marker. Just look up the highways and roads on your own map if you want to go there, and you can get there.

4Texas Historical Landmarks at 75mph  Dec 27, 2000
This is an excellent book to have in your car as you drive across Texas. As you drive up on a Historical Landmark, your passanger can quickly find the description in the book and you won't have to slow down. Thousands of Landmarks are referenced. A must have for the long treks across Texas.

5Just plain perfect!  Dec 28, 2005 By E. Rogers
I am so excited that I found this book. When traveling through Texas, I am always interested in the Historical Markers. However, I have a husband that drives from point A to point B, without any stops in between! Because of that, I have asked for a book that would have everything listed that I am always wanting to stop and read. I finally found this book and could not wait to get it. It came just in time for Christmas and one of our annual road trips! No complaints! Perfect in every way. Certainly worth the money, and easy to read. Very to the point, so if you want to read more on the historical marker...do the research! Thank you so much for taking the time to write a book like this and making my life so much easier!

5Learning as we go!  Jun 29, 2006 By Aubrey H. Estes
I was amazed at the number of markers in our state, and no longer have to wonder what the sites are noted for. I have traveled Texas roads all my life, and wish this book had been with me from the beginning: I would know a lot more Texas History!
Highly recommended.

5Keep it in your vehicle!  Feb 18, 2007 By La Maestra
This book has an alphabetical listing of the city or towns where the markers are located, with addresses or locations of each. This makes for much easier locating when you drive by a marker. My husband & I RV a lot and we keep it in our vehicle -- when we see a marker, I grab the book, look up the marker, and read the information aloud. If anyone's interested in the history of Texas, this would be a great book to add to one's collection of historical books.
